(L to R, three coats of polish each) 1. CoverGirl Natural Blush, 2. Morgan Taylor I'm Charmed, 3. Maybelline ColorShow Pink Embrace, 4. Sally Hansen Sweet Talker, 5. Essie Starter Wife

Today's blog post is something that I've struggled with for a long time but have overlooked the importance of. I love pale pink nails. The only problem is that I was never able to find a brand/shade with the color payoff that I wanted. I'm all for drugstore brands, but this is an example of spending a little more money to get the right bang for your buck. It's extremely hard to tell which polishes are more sheer and which ones have a lot more color to them. Here is a break down of some of the pale pink nude polishes I've tried (I'm very aware that there are many brands, shades, etc. this is just an example of what I have in my collection):

1. CoverGirl Natural Blush

This was probably the worst out of all of the colors I have. I applied three coats and it still looked like I had absolutely nothing on my nails whatsoever.

2. Morgan Taylor I'm Charmed

If you didn't know already, I LOVE Morgan Taylor nail polishes. You can only get them from salon specialty stores which is a huge bummer. Some nail salons may carrier the brand though. Or you can ask anyone with a cosmetology license. The color payoff is so rich and opaque, this is definitely my favorite one. You could get away with only 2 coats of polish but since the other nails had 3 I decided to stick with that instead. The polishes don't chip or peel as fast as regular drug store polishes and I love the formula of the polish, it's not too watery or too thick. This is also part of the Cinderella collection!

3. Maybelline ColorShow Pink Embrace

This is a pretty strange color. No matter how much I shake and roll the container, I can never get the oils to mix correctly. This formula is more thick than the others but you have to apply at least 3 coats for it to look decent. With 3 coats on your nail of thick polish it's extremely hard to dry. I'm not a fan of this polish, but it's better than #1 and #5 in my list.

4. Sally Hansen Sweet Talker

This will probably be my second choice out of all the options in this post. The brush of this polish is really wide which I know many people like, but my nails are more long than they are wide so I have to be careful when using it. The color is not as opaque as the MT polish but it's not as sheer as #1 and #5. I know many of the othe polishes in this line are very nice.

5. Essie Starter Wife

This was a close tie with #1 for having the worst color payoff in the list. No matter how many coats of polish I applied, my nail looked exactly how it did before I applied any. I suppose it could be a nice top coat color, but my top coats are very translucent and help my nails dry faster and prevent breakage.

I would have to say my favorite from the collection would be the Morgan Taylor polish. The less coats of nail polish to get the job done, the better. My second option would be the Sally Hansen brand and the Maybelline polish my third option. The Essie and CoverGirl Polishes are extremely sheer. When compared together it's easy to see the formula, but at the drugstore it's extremely difficult to tell the difference.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know of any other brands/shades of pale pink polish you think I should try.
